  David McAllister, artistic director of the Australian Ballet, has chosen The Sleeping Beauty to debut his first choreographic work. The ballet was first performed by Missing: JESSYE NORMAN. The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky is another ballet that is based on a fairy tale, and was first presented to the Tsar of Russia. It tells the story of Princess Aurora, King Florestan's daughter. The fairies have been invited to Aurora's christening, and each one in turn dances and gives a magic g: JESSYE NORMAN.

The Sleeping Beauty ballet was adapted from the Charles Perrault tale, “The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood.” Tchaikovsky wrote the music, and his long-time collaborator, Marius Petipa, choreographed the dances.
